One of the most interesting and rewarding parts of launching the Svala vegan handbag collection was using Piñatex®. This is a natural, innovative and patented new material, made from pineapple leaf fibres gathered by partner farming cooperatives in the Philippines.
Pinatex® fibers are the by-product of the pineapple harvest. This natural and vegan materia, sourced in the Philippines and finished in Spain, is composed of 80% pineapple leaf fibres and 20% PLA fibres. No extra land, water, fertiliser or pesticides are required to produce the raw material. No pineapples are harmed in the making of Pinatex®!
